We update reviews when prices drop, when a model gets replaced, or when new information changes our take, instead of publishing once and leaving it. Nobody pays us for a good review — if a product is mediocre, the review says so, and if it’s genuinely good we say that too without inflating the praise.
How we review
- Build quality — materials, construction, and how well it holds up to normal, everyday use rather than careful lab conditions
- Price vs. alternatives — whether it’s actually worth more than the next-best option at a similar price
- Real-world use — how it performs outside of a spec sheet, based on what we and readers actually experience using it
- Longevity — whether it’s built to last a reasonable amount of time or likely to fail early
- Warranty and support — what happens if something goes wrong, and how easy it is to get a replacement or refund
We cover the same three categories as the rest of the site — Electronics, Fashion, and Home & Kitchen — and we try to review products at different price points within each one. A good review should tell you whether a product is worth it for what it costs, not just whether it’s good in an absolute sense. A budget option and a premium option can both earn a positive review if each delivers on what it promises for its price.
Our review process
- Pick the product — usually something popular, frequently asked about by readers, or genuinely interesting for its price.
- Research specs and owner feedback — we read the listing, the manual if there is one, and what actual buyers say in reviews and forums.
- Compare alternatives — we line it up against similar products in the same price range to see how it actually stacks up.
- Score on our criteria — build quality, price, real-world use, longevity, and support, weighed together rather than any single factor.
- Update quarterly — we recheck the review every few months and fix anything that’s changed, from price to availability to newer competitors.
What we disclose
