How to write a product video that sells
Short product videos that sell almost always follow the same simple order: stop the scroll, show the offer, prove it's good, and make ordering easy. Mshopi builds this structure for you, but knowing why it works helps you write better prompts, choose better photos and edit with purpose.
The four parts
| Part | Time | What it does | In Mshopi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hook | 0–3 s | Stops the scroll and gives a reason to keep watching | First photo, headline, product name, discount seal |
| Offer | 3–6 s | Says what it is and what it costs | Price tag with the old price crossed out |
| Proof | middle | Answers doubts with details | One photo and one feature chip per scene, delivery and trust badges |
| Order | last 3 s | Tells people exactly how to buy | End card: product, "Order now", WhatsApp or phone, shop name |
1. The hook: the first second
On TikTok, Reels and Status, people decide in about a second whether to keep watching. The hook needs a strong picture and a reason. The best reasons for shoppers are simple: a clear discount ("30% OFF"), a moment ("EID SALE", "11.11"), newness ("NEW ARRIVAL") or scarcity ("ONLY 10 LEFT"). Put the strongest one in your prompt and it becomes the headline.
Your first photo matters as much as the text: choose the most attractive, clearest shot of the product, not a box or a close-up of a label.
2. The offer: name and price, early
Many sellers hide the price and ask people to "DM for price". It feels like it creates conversations, but most people don't message; they scroll on. Showing the price early filters for serious buyers and builds trust. If it's on sale, show the old price crossed out next to the new one; buyers understand the saving instantly.
Keep it honest. Only cross out a price you genuinely charged recently. Made-up "was" prices are against consumer protection rules in many countries and platform ad policies, and customers notice. Mshopi shows exactly what you type, so the responsibility is yours.
3. Proof: answer the doubts
Every buyer has a few silent questions: Is it good quality? Will it fit? Is it original? What if it's wrong? Use the middle of the video to answer them, one per scene:
- Material and quality: "Pure cotton", "Genuine leather", "Stainless steel".
- Size and fit: "Free size", "Fits 15.6-inch laptops", "100 ml".
- Performance: "24h battery", "Long lasting", "Fast charging".
- Risk removers: "Cash on delivery", "7 day easy return", "1 year warranty", if you really offer them.
Write features as two or three words each, separated by commas in your prompt. Mshopi shows one per photo as a check-mark chip. Choose the photo order so each feature appears over the photo that proves it: "Gold buttons" over the button close-up.
4. The order: make buying effortless
End every video with exactly one clear action. For most small shops that's a WhatsApp message, so Mshopi's end card says "Order on WhatsApp" with your number in large type. If you sell through a website or Instagram DMs, put that in the brand kit instead. Add delivery terms ("Free delivery all over Pakistan", "Cash on delivery") so the last thing people see removes the last doubt.
Example prompts
English:
Wireless earbuds, $29.99 was $49.99, 24h battery, noise cancelling, fast charging, free shipping, limited stock
Roman Urdu:
Ladies kurti, Rs 1,800, pure lawn, 3 colours, cash on delivery, abhi order karein WhatsApp 0300 1234567
Urdu:
لان سوٹ، 2500 روپے، 3500 روپے پہلے، مفت ڈیلیوری، واٹس ایپ 03001234567
Length and pace
For social media, 10–20 seconds is usually enough: one hook scene, two to five proof scenes and an end card. Faster styles (Flash deal, Bold sale) use about 1.6–2.2 seconds per photo; calmer ones (Luxury, Clean minimal) about 3. If a scene feels too short to read the feature, drag the edge of that photo on the timeline to make it longer.
Test, don't guess
The best way to learn what works for your customers is to post two versions. Use Try the next style to make a second version in seconds, post both on different days, and compare views and messages. Keep a note of which headline, style and price display got more orders.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a product video be?
10–20 seconds for TikTok, Reels and WhatsApp Status: a hook, a few proof scenes and an end card.
Should I show the price in my product video?
Usually yes. Showing the price early builds trust and brings serious buyers. Only cross out an old price you really charged.
What should the end of a product video say?
One clear action: how to order (for example "Order on WhatsApp" with your number) plus delivery terms.
